I should print this out and clobber all those so-called ‘web designers’ with it: Alphabet Soup

Suckage
Just heard this on the news, and after some searching, came upon this link: roxettenews.com
The lead singer from Roxette, Marie Fredriksson, has been diagnosed with a small brain tumour. That really sucks, I’ve always like Roxette.
Fruity Goodness

A Plague on Both Your Houses
People wonder why there isn’t peace in the middle east when they can’t even get their own act together…
This morning, I got into the bus at Hagen Central Station, when a guy approached the bus driver. He had a bun or something in his hand and had just bitten off a piece. Also, he did not seem to be a native German, which seems to be a factor in this tale.
He asked the driver, which bus was going to a certain station. The driver answered “Empty your mouth before asking, I don’t understand you.” To which the chewer replied “I want to know which bus goes to soandso”, still chewing.
Then the bus driver started to tell the Chewer that it was rude to talk with your mouth full, and the chewer started getting irate, since he “just wanted to know what bus to take” and “How dare you talk to me like that”.
Then the bus driver said “And I have to drive now, please leave”, which the chewer did, but not without mumbling some abuses at the bus driver when he was out the door.
You know what? Chill the fuck out!.
The bus driver is a bus driver, and not Miss Manners, even I was able to understand what the guy was asking, and I was sitting a few rows back. And to the Chewer, man, don’t get your panties in a bunch, swallow and ask again.
But no, you both have to keep on pouring oil on the fire…
sigh
My Karma Is What?
I just wanted to post a comment to Slashdot, and lo and behold, there’s a checkbox ‘Don’t apply +1 bonus’. It seems that I somehow amassed enough Karme to get the +1 bonus.
In other news, I went through some of my older CDs yesterday and I wondered what the respective bands were doing, and if there would ever be a second CD.
A check of three bands revealed that all three have a new album coming out this year.
SR-71: Tomorrow, coming in October
3 Doors Down:Away from the sun, coming in November
Nine Days: So Happily Unsatisfied(what a cool title), coming in October
I’m really looking forward to that, since I always thought, those bands would never make more than one album.
Now That Brightened Up My Morning
Something in the Air, Maybe?
What’s up with today? Suddenly all kinds of people seem to remember that I am on their IM list and say Hi, how are you?
Just one of those days…
Nifty!
Checking my logfiles, I came across a weird user agent, “obidos-bot”. I know that obidos is something Amazon uses, but I was curious. A google search later, I found the answer:
onfocus.com : Weblog BookWatch, a website that checks recently updated blogs for links to books and generating a list of the most mentioned books.
Now that’s a neat idea.
Service? I Don’t Think So
I was at Saturn, a big eletronics shop, today, to look for a replacement mouse, since my IntelliMouse Explorer died on monday. While I was there, I took a look at the TVs, since I am thinking about getting a new TV set, a 16:9 for watching DVDs, since that is the main usage my TV sees these days.
Looking at the array of TVs arranged on the walls, I noticed, that the picture on the 16:9 ones looked very distorted, so everyone had oval heads. Not a pretty sight, and if I drop down that much money on a TV, it damn well better look good with old movies, too.
Then a friendly sales droid appeared, asking if I had any questions. I was about to shrug him off, and tell him I was just browsing. But then, I thought Seize the moment, ask an expert.
And I did just that.
When I asked him, if I could change the TV so that it would not distort the picture, his answer was Why would you want to do that?
Well, duh, because I would like people to have their normal proportions.
No, I did not say that out loud. He kept on telling me, that the future is 16:9, that you never want to go back after it, and that basically, the german TV stations are to blame for still broadcasting mostly in 4:3.
After much hot air had escaped the sales droid, I was actually able to squeeze some tiny bit of information out of him. Yes, you can make the TV show 4:3 without distortion, you just get some black borders on each side. That was all that I wanted to know.
Here’s a message to all you sales droids out there: Don’t assume I’m a moron, just because I have a question.I’m much more inclined to buy something, if you don’t try to sell me something with all your might.
